SYNOPSIS
Meteor Shower is a fast-paced comedy that explores relationships and the chaos that can unfold over one unforgettable evening. Set in Ojai, California, in August 1993, the play follows married couple Corky and Norm, who invite another couple, Laura and Gerald, over to watch a spectacular meteor shower. What begins as a relaxed night of food, drinks and conversation soon takes an unexpected turn as tensions rise and the evening becomes increasingly unpredictable. As the four characters navigate awkward encounters, surprising revelations and increasingly absurd situations, the boundaries between humour and discomfort begin to blur. Filled with sharp wit, quirky characters and outrageous moments, Meteor Shower takes audiences on a hilarious and surreal journey that challenges expectations and leaves them questioning how we deal with relationships.

Roles

CORKY (playing age 35-45)
Corky is the average upper-middle class American wife. She is warm, enthusiastic and optimistic and she tries to keep the evening enjoyable, even as the night becomes increasingly strange.

NORM (playing age 35-45)
Norm is Corky’s husband. He is a nice guy and a supportive husband. His personality can be bold and unpredictable, and his interactions with the other characters contribute to the play’s awkward, escalating tension.

LAURA (playing age 35-45)
Laura is a confident ex-Vogue editor and glamorous wife of Gerald. She is at ease being provocative. As the evening unfolds, her behaviour and relationships with the other characters add to the growing sense of uncertainty.

GERALD (playing age 35-45)
Gerald is Laura’s husband and a tennis friend of Norm. He initially appears to be a fairly ordinary visitor, but he has an assertive edge. He is a cocky, attractive, alpha male who helps drive the play’s unusual humour.

Accents are Standard Southern Californian (Western American)
