SYNOPSIS

Sherlock Holmes is dead. Or so it is assumed. The world knows the great detective went over the falls at Reichenbach with his nemesis Professor Moriarty. But as Holmes’ body was never retrieved, a number of frauds, fakes, and charlatans have come forward since to lay claim to his identity, and it falls to Dr. Watson to disprove them. Then a telegram arrives informing Watson that three men, each claiming to be Holmes, have been committed to a remote asylum off the coast of Scotland. Now Watson must discover if one of the mad men is the real Sherlock Holmes.

Period: 1890s. 

Roles

Characters are 30s- 50’s

*character names may be deceptive but reflect the narrative.

The 3 men claiming to be Sherlock Holmes – British gentlemen.

John Watson – British gentleman. Medical Doctor.

Matron – efficient, constructive, bright and placid

Dr. Evans – Medical Doctor, professional and methodical.

Orderly

Inspector – tall with strong physical presence, shrewd, commanding.

Moriarty – sharp, cunning and devious. A precise and piercing presence.

Sunday 6 October 2024 from 2.00 – 5.00pm and Monday 7 October from 7.30 – 9.00pm

Please note: anyone who is offered a role will be asked to pay a $20 fee for membership and insurance.

All rehearsals will occur at The Girl Guide Hall, Glebe Avenue, Cheltenham. Rehearsal schedule will be Sunday afternoons, Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Please ensure you would be available for all performances before auditioning. If you have a conflict with any of the rehearsal dates, please advise the Director at audition and if it becomes relevant, every effort will be made to work with it.
